Hi everyone, I`m Keith, I live on Canvey Island in Essex. I am the proud owner of a 1983 (I think its 1983 but its hard to tell as the paint is thick over the numbers) single speed Bomber. I have had the bike for the past 20 years, and its pretty much in its original condition including all its original parts, minus a few scratches of course. It still has the black plastic wheel nut caps on the back wheels! Unfortunately while my Son was out riding it the front steering stem (about 4cm up from the bearing cup) snapped. When I took it apart i found that the handlebar stem and the fork steering stem had both suffered metal fatigue oddly it looked like it was caused by water leaking in?? which must of been at some point during its previous ownership as its always been kept in a garage since I have owned it and never left out in the rain. This has prompted me to strip the bike down and give it a thorough deep clean while I await my mate Paul to weld / braze the fork stem for me. In doing so I have decided that two new tyres are needed (as i`m still running original gum-walls), some new decals and possibly a new crank cover if I can source one. With a quick search on the net I have found this site with some great information on Bombers and found out that i`m not the only bloke riding around on a 80`s classic... Keep up the good work. Keith.
