Hi Bomber fans everywhere. It saddens me to say I am indeed a former owner of a Bomber as the wonderful 5 speed I had had since I was 14, when it was given to me for Christmas 1984, was stolen from my locked shed in Addington, West Malling, Kent on 10 April 2015. Although I had not used it for many years and the chrome had rusted, it was a totally original and unmolested example and I always intended getting it fully sorted and back in use. The thief or thieves had to move one of three other bikes that were in the shed at the time in order to get to the Bomber so they clearly knew what they were after.
I reported the theft to the police, put details on 'Stolen Bikes UK' and now I am here, hoping that against all odds someone out there might find my bike and help us get reunited. Identifying features include a small tear at the back of the original sprung seat, the triangular-ish black plastic part of the brake lever (I think the right side) is not attached (I still have it in a jar in my garage), it had the original snake-belly tyres (with cracked sidewalls though) and original handlebar grips. At the time it was stolen the bike sported, from new, a rather cool round, black plastic front light which had a black plastic grill over the lens and I think a green switch on the top. There was a matching black rear light also and and a black metal carrier at the back.
I remember the first time I took my bike for a spin, that cold Christmas Day morning. It was and still is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden and it looked amazing. I was so proud of it, no one else around where I lived owned one and a number of people I passed during that first journey, out for their Christmas stroll, expressed their admiration for it. As you may gather, this link to my childhood means an awful lot to me and I really want it back.
So, if any of you see or hear anything about a 5 speed Bomber that matches the description I have given, please let me know.
Thanks.
