Hi all. Well I've finally gone and done it! After years casually thinking about buying a grifter as I had always wanted one way back when. in May I had a drunken conversation with a Mate who is into choppers and grifters and he mentioned the bomber! Memories of the cool older lads in the village came flooding back, (they all had grifters and one had a bomber, all I had was an old mark one chopper!) I think the main reason I had not taken the plunge with a grifter was that my mid life crisis had not properly kicked in, but having just turned fourty that was no longer an issue! Also the size thing had put me off a little, but as bombers are canny big bikes no probs there either! After convincing the missus I searched eBay and came across the perfect super bomber, or so I thought! None came up for sale in my region (north east) and questions would have been asked if I had travelled too far! As I like the easy life i dismissed all but ones where postage was offered. I won a super that was said to be in great original condition. When it arrived the package had been battered by the courier and a few bits were missing. The bike was not in that good nick either. To be fair the seller did a partial refund so I ended up paying a fair price and sourced the bits I need for less than I thought. So, I now need to find the time to give it a good clean up and service. I think I'll keep it original as I can't see me getting the time yo do a proper resto for a while. Will try and put some pics up soon but in the meantime will enjoy looking at all yours!

Hello. My mate has choppers (7 of them) & his favourite ones are un-restored. He says if u restore it, it will take 40 odd years to get it back to where it is now. They are nice with a used look about them. Post some pics when u can. Rgds, Dan.

Welcome! Another Super saved then. Hope you enjoy the bike - I'd not be without either of mine. Look forward to seeing some pics of your new purchase in due course.

Hi all, Am near Newcastle mike, whitley bay on the coast. Loads of great views on gentle runs for an old man on an old bike! Sort of know what your mate means dan, I am in no hurry as i think it'll clean up well, the only thing I want to change are the pedals as they are not original (look to be from a BMX) and the tyres will need changing soon as they are balder than me! What are those snake bellys like on eBay? Matty.

Think ffoxy bought a pair of these for one of his. Sure he's put something up about them in one of his threads in the resto section. Think Raleighmad had some nos ones for sale a while back too, don't know if he still has them. Might be worth a pm?
There's a guy on ebay who has sold pairs of near original new rat trap pedals in the past. Several of us on the forum have had them from him via auction. He puts pairs up 2-3 times per year it seems. Maybe contact him direct and see if he has any waiting to go on?
Link to his shop page:
www.ebay.co.uk/sch/m.html?item=290972238238&pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&clk_rvr_id=518261005344&hash=item43bf4c019e&_ssn=glensprocket&_sop=10
Also, just typing in 9/16 rat trap pedals in the ebay search bar can usually bring up several pairs of pedals of various quality/price.
Hope that might help?
