Hello Everyone,
My name is Robert, and I live in the US / North Carolina. I have always liked the Raleigh Super Bomber, but don't think they were ever imported. So I am thinking about building a clone using the Raleigh camel back frame from US bikes such as the Colt or Space Rider as a basis.
So, I joined this community to learn more about the parts that were used on the Bomber to see what I could possibly acquire and / or duplicate here in the US without spending too much money.
Glad to meet you.
Regards,
Robert

Thanks for the welcome all. Sorry about the confusion. Some frames have a straight top tube and others have a curved top tube. The slightly curved top tube frames are called 'camel back' because of the 'hump' I suppose. Schwinn made a camel back frame called the 'Speedster'. Here are some pics of US Raleighs with 'camel backs'. Was going to use this as a frame to build a Bomber - replica if you will. Thanks!

I meant to say - these types of frames are called 'Camelbacks' in the US. Not that this is how they are referred to everywhere My apologies for being US-centric. Here's a Schwinn Camel back I made into a 24" Fastback.

from what I can see the first one looks your best bet. Could go a mixture of bombers and produce a 5 speed black bomber ? cross between the black 3 speed and limited edition 5 speed ? you would need cowhorns ( think an English term ) plus a bomber seat ( sprung seat ) and fat tyres ? see what other guys suggest

Assume cowhorns are the handlebars?

Hi Robert. Welcome in. Looks like an interesting idea for a project. Certainly a first for the forum. Following on from Mike' response above. Unfortunately, it seems Mark's not producing the decals currently. I enquired about getting a further set for an early black bike restoration I'm hoping to have done in the near future recently, but it seems he is currently having problems with the machines he uses to reproduce them. I've searched the web and it doesn't appear that anyone else makes them either, so I'm going to make enquiries with other repro decal companies to see if they can be reproduced elsewhere. Although I'm assuming if they can they may need originals removed from a bike to be scanned for accurate copies to be made and that they will be quite expensive, as it wouldn't be a bulk order. I'll let you know if I find anyone in due course. It might be worth contacting Mark to see if, on the off chance, he has a set of Super Bomber ones knocking about too though.

Thanks everyone. Very helpful. I will contact Mark.
On another note, what is the make of the seat that was used on the Bomber? Was it proprietary to Raleigh? It just looks so cool. Can't find anything similar on Ebay and the likes here in the US.

Hi & welcome in bluwebco. The early seats were Kashima or Tahei. I posted something on one of my threads about this. Will try and find it again.
Why not get a used Bomber frame sent over from the UK? They aren't very heavy....
Regarding the Colt. I was looking at them a while back as I believe they often used coaster hubs. I was thinking they would be ideal on a Super Bomber as there would be no brake-blocks to rub away the blue super-chrome

Would love to have an old Bomber frame and fork sent over to the US. Great idea! Thanks for the seat info too.

No problem. I found the page where I talked about the seat(s). It's at the post from June 27. I also just discovered I have a spare frame but the threads in the BB shell are stripped I don't think there's any way to repair that but it may be of some use to you to build your project around whilst you wait on another surfacing
